A quiet property that produces wines with a distinctive character. A domain off the beaten track— literally as it is lost, peaceful, on the outskirts of the town of Pignans. And figuratively since part of its white and rosé wines are vinified in wooden barrels; an unusual method for these wines.
Unquestionably, Château Barbeiranne is worth visiting for the strong character of its wines Camille and Vallat Sablou; rosés and whites aged in wood barrels. This is not exclusive to the domain, but the results are rare enough that we regularly visit the cellar for tasting them.
The cellar of Château Barbeiranne is home to 400 oak barrels—uncommon in Provence. Three quarters of them are used for fermenting and ageing red wines, but a few hundred bring an original touch to the house whites and rosés.
