At the foot of the Sainte-Victoire Mountain, this beautiful property is home to one of the great families of the Provence vineyards. The Sainte-Victoire terroir is considered one of the finest in Provence. Located between Puyloubier and Trets, the Sumeire family's Château Coussin honours this reputation.
It is only a carton, but not any carton! It contains six bottles of ‘César à Sumeire’, Château Coussin’s best cuvee, and reproduces an original collage of César, one of the best signatures of Contemporary Art. The famous sculptor was born in Marseille where his father was a wine merchant. He has known all the Sumeires when they were “kiddos”. He saw them again with great and true pleasure when he had become one of the greatest French artists of his time, and dedicated one of his works made from labels of Ellie’s different domains. As a mark of fondness for his native Provence, César declared "I shall make it for you and for Provence!".
If the vine has long been grown on the domain, it has not always been the main crop, as evidenced by the paved and circular wheat-threshing floor located at the entrance of the estate. Sheaves were brought here and trampled on to separate the wheat from the chaff. This was hard work as this operation had to be carried out in full sun, the day after the harvest, to ensure that the husks would split open easily.
