This quiet domain offers quality wines and famous reds. This is one of the oldest buildings in La Croix-Valmer. It’s located just off the beaches of the Saint-Tropez Peninsula, and yet it's an oasis of serenity, lost in the middle of nature.
Thus, if Cinsault and Grenache feed pretty rosés with great finesse, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon make some powerful reds, full of character, which show that Provence also has a talent for that colour. Especially when they take advantage, as here, of a suitable clay schist soil on slopes, sun in profusion and sea breezes that enhance the whole.
On August 15, 1944, the Château de Chausse was at the height of its popularity. The whole village was there. However, it wasn’t to celebrate the Assumption but rather to flee the fighting between the Allies and Germans, which was raging all along the coast. La Croix Valmer was indeed one of the high places of the Landing in Provence.
