The agriculture vocation of that property located in Garéoult dates back to the Roman presence in Provence. Betty-Ann Cundall, a very Provencal English woman who fiercely loves the authenticity of her wines, watches over these vineyards in a vast and green environment.
Since 1974, Château des Chaberts has been collecting awards: French Winemakers Competition, Independent Winegrowers, Saint-Tropez, Brignoles wines, Mondial du Rosé, without forgetting Paris and Macon. And specialized guides regularly mention the different vintages of the domain. This rain of medals rewards nearly 40 years of consistency and excellence.
A gardener of Garéoult had a happy pickaxe stroke in 1988. He discovered the remains of a Gallo-Roman necropolis, some of which are exposed on the ground floor of the village hall: various containers, glassware, oil lamps alongside a tomb under tiles and a funeral urn. A family visit to this exhibit hall is an excellent introduction to archaeology as well as a discovery of this side of Provence’s rich history.
