Thanks to the efforts and expertise of the Gassier family, Château Gassier is now on the rise. From soil study to the vineyard structuration and the winery equipment, everything has been implemented to raise this domain among the more qualitative of the denomination of terroir Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire. And the results are already here: for several vintages, these wines (three rosés and one white) have been shining by their finesse and gourmandise.
The cellar of Château Gassier houses a modern meeting room for twenty people adjacent to the tasting room of great contemporary design. It’s a perfect duo to combine business with pleasure: a working session and a workshop on introduction to oenology, for example.
The three vintages of Château Gassier tell about the Sainte-Victoire Mountain. “Loubiero” refers to the peak of the mountain; in Provence, the word means "Wolf's Lair". And in the past, many of these animals roamed in the area. “Le Pas du Moine” is one of the many trails leading to the Priory Sainte-Victoire, built in 17th century. A large cross, the Cross of Provence, dominates it. Built for the first time in the 16th century by a sailor rescued from a shipwreck (three different crosses have since succeeded to this ex voto). This monument built in 1875 on the initiative of Father Meissonier, pastor of Rousset, is high of 18.25 metres. It lies west of the mountain on a high peak at 946 metres; hence the name of the third vintage of the Château: “946”.
