This small domain has acquired a great reputation after twenty years of toil. In 1991, Patricia Ortelli fell in love with this wine property located in Pontevès, in Haut Var. She had never practiced viticulture before, yet she decided to produce wine, and good wine for that matter. This goal has not only been met: it was even surpassed!

In addition to the wines, the cellar of Château La Calisse offers visitors two house products, also from organic farming: a quality olive oil, typical of Provence with its bitterness and its spicy finish, and lavender essential oil, perfect to perfume the linen-cupboard or the bathroom.   

Original and unusual

The estate of Patricia Ortelli was not always dedicated to vines and wine. In the 19th century, it housed silkworms (the property has kept from this time a mulberry tree, which leaves were used to feed moths). The domain was also planted with almond trees to provide almonds to the confectioners of Aix-en-Provence, producers of the famous Calisson d’Aix. Hence the name of the place: La Calisse!
