Château La Lieue is one of the precursors of the organic farming in Provence. Forty years ago, Jean-Louis Vial took over the vineyards and drew them 20 years later on the path to "organic". Today, his son Julien continues his father's work and maintains the family estate among the best references of the Coteaux Varois en Provence.
Château La Lieue is one of the few domains in Provence to produce brandy from its own wine marc. It is called “L’Engardin”, which in Provençal means "water of life". The annual production is modest with only150 litres. Since the 2009 vintage, part of this brandy is aged in 114-litre casks. They will come out of them in a few years with a beautiful amber colour and delicate scent.
Two vintage cars are parked next to the cellar: a Jeep from the ‘60s and a Lancia Fluvia in perfect condition. Jean-Louis and Julien maintain those beautiful machines. Their collection also includes a second Jeep that survived the Second World War, and a 4CV that still leaves for historic rallies.
