Château les Mesclance is undergoing a huge renaissance. With a beautiful terroir and a totally redesigned cellar, Arnaud de Villeneuve Bargemon, his daughter and his son-in-law have new and great ambitions for their charming property. Domain in organic conversion.
The Mesclances think big! In addition to its traditional bottles, the Castle offers its wines in magnums (1.5 litres), Jeroboam (3 litres) and Methuselah (6 litres). On request, it can even go further: Salmanazar (9 litres), Balthasar (12 litres), Nebuchadnezzar (15 litres) etc.
The winemaking tradition of Mesclances is ancient. Alerted by the presence of numerous pieces of cooked clay on one of the property hills, archaeologists have conducted excavations. They revealed the presence of an ancient Roman wine farm. “We found tanks as well as amphora bottoms of nearly a metre in diameter,” says the master of the house.
