Work, talent and time are needed to ultimately produce great wines. At the foot of the village of Villecroze, in a setting of 300 hectares of nature, Château Thuerry cultivates Exception. This is also the name that the owner Jean-Louis Croquet gave to his finest cuvees.

Jean-Louis Croquet is not one to do things by halves. So when he sets out to make wine, he wants what is best. Thus, at the dawn of the new millennium, he began an improbable quest: that of a red, which without denying the character of his native Provence would be in the top league, among the wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. It would take several years of work and testing, but he did eventually get his Grail: The Exception.

Original and unusual

Jean-Louis Croquet’s son Thomas Mars married a winegrower's daughter. This talented musician, a member of the Phoenix Group, is in fact the husband of director Sofia Coppola, Francis Ford Coppola’s daughter. On top of being a genius filmmaker, the latter is also the owner of Inglenook, one of the big names in Napa Valley, California.
