This vineyard is worked carefully by one family, in the most natural way possible. Castell-Reynoard is one of the smallest areas of the Bandol appellation; if it is certainly small in size, it is not in quality. Cultivating his vineyards biodynamically with passion and respect for these historic lands, Julien Castell seeks to develop atypical juices, with a marked personality, that taste of the Bandol terroir.
Two years ago Julien Castell created two new cuvees, a red AOC Bandol “le Clos Castell”, and the other “For My Dad”, a white Table Wine. Both wines are from a mature reflection on the transmission of the terroir complexity and looking for an unusual freshness in Provence. The result gives rich wines, mature and elegant with a balanced structure between acidity, tannins and volume. The wines are produced without any mechanization, no sulphites added during vinification and aging to preserve the complexity of this terroir.
Julian’s father Jean-Marie Castell is the cellar master of another Bandol domain: Lafran-Veyrolles.
