At the heart of the regional park of Camargue, on the great Rhône River, the domain of Beaujeu stands out against the landscape. The dark green squares of its alfalfa fields, the mirrors of water of its rice fields, the rigorous alignment of its vines lined by majestic rows of poplars all reflect unusual love and respect for the land. The vast fields of enganes, these samphire grasslands survivals of wild Camargue, mark on the other hand respect for traditional landscapes and a real desire to preserve biodiversity.
The cellar of Domaine de Beaujeu offers a nice selection of local products. Some, in addition to wine, are homemade. Others come from local producers selected for the quality and authenticity of their products, like rice beer or apple juice. Pierre Cartier also offers apricot nectar and olive oil from Mas Gourgonnier, the other family property, located in the Alpilles.
There was a time when all the Camargue estates were engaged in mixed farming. If many of them are now specialized, the domain of Beaujeu remained faithful to tradition. In addition to vines it also continues to produce (always in organic cultivation) rice and a fodder recognized for its exceptional quality by farmers.
