Hospitable, friendly, colourful: these words perfectly describe the domain of la Giscle. People come here to taste the wine, and furthermore to understand it by visiting the winery as the domain unveils a peek backstage to its guests.
Besides his welcoming cellar, Pierre Audemard houses some rather strange hosts at la Giscle: the vocal rooster “Tais-toi” (‘shut-up!’), the sweet and affectionate donkeys, Zapata and d'Artagnan, and finally the peacock Léon— an expert in majestic bows.
For some plots, Pierre Audemard chose to use a natural controlled planting of grass. This procedure involves planting a non-competitive plant cover (clover and chickweed) as a way to control the vine development. The result is convincing with an improved soil structure, healthy harvest, respect of the auxiliary fauna and cut of herbicide use.
