Along the bank of the Issole River stands a charming hamlet where a family grows grapes and makes quality wine. Piqueroque epitomizes the charm of Provencal vineyards: with an old country house flanked by a barn, a dovecote, cypress trees and lavender, surrounded by vineyards and forests… But not without an English flair… the Hubbard family’s touch!
The domaine also sells the delicious homemade jams of Simon Garfagnini. Our favourite: Solliès fig jam. This "black Bourjassotte" grown in the Var is the queen of figs for many gourmets. It is also the classified as a PDO since 2006.
London business school and the work of a Provencal land is a very different matter altogether, but Max Hubbard did both. After graduation he discovered a taste for winemaking, a passion that he transformed into a vocation, learning the trade on the job, first in Australia, then in the Var.
