Independence is a bold, wearing but winning gamble. Roger Tourrel forged his expertise in other people’s wineries before having his own vineyard benefit from it. Domaine du Vignaret is a patchwork of nearly 30 hectares, spread over ten kilometres and divided into nine plots.
Roger Tourrel spent 14 years of his life making other wines, and Bernadette, his wife, is an oenologist. So obviously, they had the good things to succeed.
Now he could make the most of his 28 hectares of vines fragmented into 9 plots, no less! Some varietals are classified Côte de Provence, others Coteaux Varois en Provence, the most remote ones being 11 km apart, which is enough to make a difference: “Some lands benefit from maritime influence; other ones don’t but instead benefit from a greater temperature range typical of central Var. In the morning, from one point of the vineyard to another, it can easily be 3-4 ° colder.
