This cooperative winery works in the respect for tradition while using the most modern and efficient equipment. In Saint-Julien-les-Martigues, between the Etang de Berre and the sea, the winemakers of La Venise Provençale welcome visitors in a human-sized cellar, near a city that deserves to be seen.

Every May and October, La Venise de Provence organizes a wine tasting weekend as well as a discovery of its vineyard and production facilities.

Original and unusual

The oppidum Saint-Pierre that dominates Martigues from a hill has experienced a continuous occupation, from the middle of the 6th century BC to the beginning of Roman times. About twenty graffiti were discovered on the walls, with indigenous use of Greek writing. These are dedications to a local deity named Ritumos, ‘tags’ of that ancient time.
