Full of character, wines here are the very image of the town in which they come to life. Like all cooperatives in Var, Entrecasteaux has made its revolution in the late ‘90s; therefore it started the new century in top form, with significantly improved grape varieties and equipment suited to quality winemaking.
The tasting room of La Cave de l’Amiral offers, besides the house wines, many local products from Var: honey, flavoured vinegar, condiments, etc. Don’t miss the local olive oils produced by La Solidarité, a century-old olive oil cooperative. Two flavours are available to amateurs. The Olive oil AOC is soft and delicate. Equally tasty, “l’huile de France” has a rougher character with a pungent finish.
Who is this admiral who inspired the first co-operators of Entrecasteaux in 1925? This is Admiral Antoine Bruny, who in the late eighteenth century became famous in all the world's seas. These long expeditions left traces, thus we find a Cap d'Entrecasteaux southwest of Australia and an island Entrecasteaux off New Guinea.
